Floral (rose) scented perfumes I love

If you had to choose only one makeup/beauty item, what would that be? I thought about that question quite a bit when my Facebook friend April asked it. I replied, ” Lipstick”. But then thought, ” Is that true?” What do I never ever leave the house without? Even on the days I am not wearing any makeup, I wear perfume!!

So, today let’s talk about what I love.

rose pin

Gimme some Florals

I ❤ rose scented perfumes. I have bought loads of different ones throughout the years.

What I’ve tried and what I’ve loved

I loved Gucci Rush 2. OK. This one is not pure rose, but it does smell of rose a lot.

If you are a rose scent fan, you need to check out Chloe Roses and VIP rose.

Chloe rose smells  like a lot of roses. Very floral not overpowering. Lovely scent that is quite long-lasting.

VIP Rose this smells like rose but there is also a powdery smell to it. It is stronger than Chloe and on my skin, lasts longer.

Perfume

Dolce & Gabanna The one (rose) is another favourite. I went through 2 bottles, but then moved on to Chloe.

I recently discovered the Escada Delicate Notes perfume. I really like it. It actually reminds me of the Bulgari one, but it is not as strong and does not last as long.

1Es

My all time favourite though is Bulgari Rose (it is discontinued, but you can still find it on Amazon). That was my perfume for many years. It smells of roses and talk. It doesn’t oxidase and it is a really nice scent for brides (my sister wore it on her wedding day).

If you are on a budget but still want to smell like a rose/flower-y, then go to the Body Shop and check out the perfumes. I have the Moroccan Rose, but I know the body shop is coming out with an English rose as well.

My favourites

I love them all, but my top ones are:

Bulgari Rose

Chloe Rose

So, there you have it lovelies. What’s your favourite?

Mini haul: What I got from M&S and Zara

Hey loves,

I think we have established by now that I love shopping and that’s OK especially since I am using my money and no credit cards. Every month when I get paid, I pay my bills, put a bit aside and then hit the stores. I will be spending my summer in the UK (11 whole weekaroos guys!), so I needed some spring stuff (which is summer stuff for the UK). In Greece, we don’t really have spring, we go winter and then bam in your face summer!! So, this shopping trip is spring/summer.

🌻 What did I get?

🌻Zara🌻

Cross body bag

OK. I love animal print, but subtle/chic. Not too loud. I picked up this pretty snake print. It is a neutral bag. I love the clip in the front. There are three sections and a small pocket for phone/money. It cost 25 euros but it looks much more expensive, don’t you think?

1bagexw.jpg

Cardigan

I bought this cardigan in cream cause it goes with everything. It is a soft material. Kind of long but does not go lower than the hip area. The sides roll up a bit and there are no buttons to button it up. I like that. It’s different. 70% viscose 30% nylon. Price: €16.

 T-Shirts

Every year I get these T-shirts from Zara. They only last for a season (got the same ones last year). They usually shrink and get chucked but they are light, they feel comfy and airy. The back of the T-shirts is longer than the front and I like the rolled up shoulders. They are everyday Ts. 100% cotton. Price: €8  each.

🌻M & S🌻

White top

White top with cut outs on the arms. It is a 3 quarter top that runs a bit on the ‘slimmer’ side.I am usually a size 14/16 but I bought a size 20 cause I wanted it  loose.  It looks really nice(close to hip area). I also like the small zipper detail in the back. t it with a 10% off coupon).

1111111111111.jpg

So this was what I got.

Luxury Makeup Haul (Dior & Escada) + 1st Impressions

Hi loves,

I have a mini haul for you guys today. I bought a few things from the Dior counter and a perfume from Escada, so stay let’s see what’s in my shopping bag and some 1st impressions.

1Pano

Oh! Before I go on, let me tell you that in Greece, makeup is almost always on sales (cause of the economy that sucks). So, I buy my makeup with 25-30%Off.

Escada

Delicate Notes Perfume

1Es.jpg

I bought this perfume because I wanted a very subtle perfume that smells like powder and flowers. My all time favourite perfume is Bulgari Rose (which has been discontinued and can only be bought *on Amazon). Other favourites are the Chloe Love and Chloe Rose, Dolce Gabbana The One: rose (getting a pattern here?). So, if any of the perfumes I mentioned are your faves, you should check this one out cause it smells really nice. I like this for the summer and for daytime/work. It is quite long-lasting, but you do need to spritz a few ‘spritzes’ (is that even a word?) before going out. In a spendy mood, you can check out the perfume *here.

Extra info: I got the 30 ml (cause I like using up my perfumes, they are more travel friendly and I like to get other perfumes as well). It cost me about 34 euros.

Dior mini haul

Dior Nail Polish

Dior Grege 413

This is a beige colour and this is a repurchase. I love it and that’s why I got it again. I like Dior nail polishes because they do not chip and they apply well. The fact that I finished a bottle of nail varnish and bought it again, should say something. In a spendy mood? You can check it out *here.

Dior Sundown 464

This was given to me for free (<3 <3) cause I bought an X amount of things. Same brand, same product. I am sure it is a winner.

Dior Addict Fluid Stick

I got this lip

Let’s see what Dior says about this product and then I will give you my opinion.

According to the Dior website,

Dior Addict Fluid Stick boasts flawless application in a single sweep: the high-impact colour and long wear of a classic lipstick, combined with the shine of a gloss, all in a thin film that delivers sensational comfort.

You need more than a single sweep for it to look flawless. One sweep on me looked patchy. The colour pay off is great after a few “sweeps”. It has a bit of a shine to it but not too much. As for the comfort, I must point out that when I first applied it, I felt a bit of a tingling sensation. I actually thought it was a ‘plumping’ product (I hate those by the way). It was a bit uncomfy in the beginning but after a few minutes it was OK. It smells a bit like alcohol (it has alcohol in it). It is long-lasting. It stays longer than a gloss. It is not sticky. Unfortunately, don’t know if I would repurchase. I will get back to you about this one. I got this for 27 euro.

Diorskin Forever & Everwear  Primer

I have been using the Estee Lauder Matte primer, but I am almost out of it, so I thought I’d give it a try. I applied some yesterday and my makeup did last for a long time, but I cannot say much about it. You do feel like there is a veil on your skin and it doesn’t feel uncomfy. I will be back with more info about this one too. This was pricey. 36 euros.

1111prime.jpg

So, there you have it. My little shopping spree. Have you tried any of these products? Any thoughts to share?

My most ‘liked’ Instagram photos

Hi guys,

One of the hardest parts of blogging for me is taking nice pics. Instagram is the social media platform I am struggling the most with. I do like taking pictures though and I thought I’d ‘write’ (term used very lightly) a post about my most popluar Instagram pictures.Oh! I am @mypinkrambles on Instagram (and Twitter). So, let’s start with my favourite. I took this in Paleohora (Chania, Crete). I just like how everything lines up.

The Beauty Blogger Tag

Stevie from Stevie’s Beauty Lounge tagged me in the Beauty Blogger Tag. She posted 10 questions which I am answering in this post. I have tagged a few people and my 10 questions are at the end of this post. If you like my questions, consider yourself tagged 🙂 Let me know if you write something.

111111PicMonkey Collage

1. What beauty tip would you give to your 15-year-old self ?

Oh! This one takes me back in time. Hmmm. I’d say… pluck your freakin eyebrows but not too much (90s kid).

2.High end or drugstore?

I mainly use high end. I can afford them now cause I am old… :p

3. Which do you prefer – eyeshadow or lipstick?

Lipstick hands down. I don’t go anywhere without some lipstick on.

4. How long does it take for you to get ready for a night out ?

Hair, makeup, clothes are all done in about an hour.

5. What is your number 1 staple in your makeup bag?

My foundation. Estee Lauder Double Wear stay in place is my favourite makeup.

6. What made you start a blog?

I have been an educational blogger for about 3 years now and I really enjoy it. I also loved makeup, beauty and other girlie stuff. I needed a platform cause I was not going to bombard my teacher friends with all my makeup talk. That’s why I started this blog. I am having loads of fun. Keeping two blogs though is hard!

7. Which bloggers inspire you?

I like bloggers who are honest and show you their personality. I like funny bloggers. the ones you feel like you are chatting with over cocktails. I don’t like bloggers who over rely on pictures and don’t have much to say. I also really hate people who copy stuff and don’t cite correctly (I have been plagiarised and it is awful!).

8. Nude lip, Bright lip or Bold lip?

I am a lipstick girl. I cannot choose!!! Bright lip!

9. How old were you when you started blogging and how old are you now?

I started blogging at 37 and I am 27 now (hehehe). What? I teach English not maths….

10. Would you say you collect makeup?

Yeap. I collect and display my makeup. I do use it though and I don’t really horde makeup.

Now my questions 10 questions

  1. Use 3 words to describe your blogging style.
  2.  If you could meet any person in the fashion/ makeup industry (dead or alive), who would it be and why?
  3. How has your blogging changed compared to when you first started?
  4. What 1 tip would you give to a new blogger?
  5. As far as my blogging is concerned, I want to become better at…… (fill in the sentence).
  6. Where do you get ideas/ inspiration from regarding your blog posts?
  7. Name one makeup/ beauty product you have been eyeing, but have not bought yet.
  8. Do you have a holy grail product? What is it?
  9. What was the most recent beauty product you bought? Can you give us a mini review?
  10. London/ Paris or New York fashion week? Why?

I am tagging

Rae from Raecoppola.com

Eleanor from Eleanor wears

Lisa from Lisa GXoX

Lauren from My Lavender Tinted World

And all of you loves who are intrigued by my questions and want to answer them. Com’on! Do it! You know you wanna.

Double Wear Makeup on the Go: product review

Hi Loves!

Let’s talk about makeup/ foundation again. My last post was a test and show of the coverage of Double Wear Stay in Place foundation and the Makeup on the Go compact. Today’s post focuses solely on the Makeup to Go compact because I have worn it quite a bit and can now tell you what I think.

111122222.jpg

Let’s start with what the Estee Lauder website says about the product. So according to Estee Lauder,

Dewy. Luminous. Hydrating. Liquid makeup in an innovative, spill-proof compact. Gives you 8-hour wear at the push of a button.

………………

Press the button for your custom look—once for a light touch, twice for more coverage.

My thoughts

So, let’s start with the first few adjectives in the first lines on the Estee Lauder website.

Dewy: Yes.

Luminous: Hmm. Yes and no. I’d say a bit too luminous for my liking (borderline greasy but nothing a powder on top cannot fix).

Hydrating: Yes.

Innovative, spill proof compact: Yes, for innovative packaging. Yes, for spill proof as in spilling in your bag.But it gets messy (I will talk about this a bit more later).

8 hour coverage: No.

Let’s analyse

Let me start by stating that I love, love, love my Double Wear Stay in Place Makeup and other products from the Double Wear line.  As for this Makeup to Go compact, the coverage, for me, is too light. I have red spots (discolouration) and it does cover it a bit, but after a few hours the redness shows. It is not long-lasting. Then again, you can touch up as often as you want cause you carry it around with you.

1Light

I have applied the makeup on the go on the right hand side of my face (4 pumps)

It feels hydrating but too shiny for me. I used powder on top to matify it. It is very dewy and if that’s what you are looking for then you will like this product.

The packaging and the idea of the product is great. It is a compact and you press a button for the liquid to come out. I would disagree with Estee lauder regarding how many pumps of product you need. My face needed about 4 pumps and the coverage was still natural looking (aka I am wearing makeup, but not that much). When you press the button for the product to pop out, it may run a bit and can be quite messy. I actually turn it upside down so the product drops directly on my brush. The sponge applicator is a generic one. Good to use when on the run, but not to apply when at home. It has a good size mirror. It is very light to carry around. It would probably not be suitable for a small clutch bag though (suitable for bigger bags). It’s dimensions are: height: almost 2,5 cm and diameter almost 7.5 cm.

1 open.jpg

Would you repurchase?

No.

Bin or finishing up the product?

I will use it up for sure. It is not a bad product, but I prefer medium to full coverage.

So, there you have it. My thoughts on the Makeup on the Go compact.  You can read my test and show post here ( I compare the two Double Wear foundations).

Double Wear Makeup vs. Makeup on the Go (Compact)

Hi everyone,

I am a big fan of the Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation/makeup line. I already had the Double Wear stay in place makeup (in the bottle) and I now bought the Compact Double Wear Makeup to Go which is a more light version of the product. I thought I’d test them out and see the difference between the two products. So, here goes.

21222

Me with no makeup

I have dry/sensitive skin. I have lots of red spots but no acne or things like that. I am 40 years old.

1No makeup

Double Wear Makeup to Go

In this picture you can see the Double Wear light Compact. I have it in the shade 2C3 Fresco. It is quite watery and feels light on the skin. I have been wearing it for  five minutes now and I do feel like something watery/oily is on my skin. It doesn’t feel bad.  The makeup is on the right half of my face. I used 4 little pumps of product. I say that the coverage is fine. It looks as if I am not wearing anything and it does cover the redness/ spots. Take for example the little red scar on my top lip. The ‘light’ version did cover it up quite well.

1Light

Double Wear Stay in Place Makeup

Now on the left hand side I have applied the Double Wear foundation. I am using the shade 1N2. The coverage is full. It takes much more time to blend. I think the foundation sits better on my skin. I have been taking pictures and walking around the house with my makeup on for about 45 minutes now and I still feel the ‘light’ version.

1 double.jpg

In both cases I used a foundation brush and then a stippling brush. Looking at the picture I can see that the foundation (on the left) looks a bit lighter than the compact.  I can tell you that when I wear it, it makes my skin look flawless/porcelain like. I may also need to change colour/ shade though (but looking at the bottom pictures I am not sure. In real life it looks fine. I will look into this!).

Full Face

Now I then moved on to my other steps. I applied some concealer (Estee Lauder Double Wear Brush on Gow). My Chanel Les Beiges (health glow sheer powder). L’oreal Le Blush no. 165. Some highlighter from Makeup Academy. My lip stick is Plum Pop (Clinique) and my mascara is Lancome Grandiose (Violet).

Packaging of products

Compact vs. bottle

One thing I hate about my Double Wear foundation is the packaging. It is heavy and in a bottle. I spilt it once and almost lost all the product. You also have to pour it onto something or your brush when using and that can be messy

The compact is light and easy to carry around. It has a small mirror and comes with a sponge. It has a little button/ pump thing which you press and the product pops out. That can get a bit messy. It does look secure though. I haven’t walked around the city with it in my bag, so have no idea if there is a possibility of an accident.

My verdict

I like both. I will use the compact for more everyday makeup and the bottle foundation for more heavy-duty going out occasions. I do have to point out that I know that the double wear foundation (bottle) lasts all day long. It does not budge. Promise!

I want to finish off by saying that I am not a makeup artist. I am a teacher who loves makeup. There may be techniques or mistakes in the way I apply my products, but this is how I do it. The purpose of the post is to test the coverage and see the differences and I hope you have a ‘picture’ of that now.

My favourite YouTubers

Hi everyone,

I love decompressing after work or during my leisure time  whilst watching YouTube videos. I will start off by telling you what I like watching though. I like hauls, anything related to makeup (first impressions, hauls are my favourites). Not really that interested in turtorials. I also like watching anything clothes/ handbag related as well. Cause I am in Greece, I enjoy watching YouTubers from other countries especially when they go out for food (us Greeks and our food!). Finally, I also tend to watch women who have/ had a career. I don’t like YouTubers who don’t breathe when they talk (just babble 24/7)! So, now, about one paragraph later, let’s check out some of my favourite channels.

Elle Florence

I recently discovered Elle. She is a lawyer who lives in Canada. She does about beauty, bags (<3 <3)  and books (love and love), she also does vlogs. she is very eloquent and I enjoy watching her videos.

Ms Goldgirl

I have been watching Marnie’s videos for probably more than two years now. She used to be a teacher (extra points there). She lives in the US and does lots of beauty reviews, hauls, and special one minute videos where she informs her viewers about sales and important things that she finds out about and wans us, the viewers, to know about.. She is not afraid to say what she thinks and I trust her opinion. She also answers comments which is great!

Kristina (Aka pretty sparkly shiny)

Kristina is a doctor. I enjoy seeing what it’s like for a busy gal who has such a demanding job to be a YouTuber as well. She does vlogs and beauty hauls, product reviews. She is also quite techy and talks about gadgets and stuff ( I am clueless) and LV is a word that often comes up on her channel.

Tati

She does lots of reviews and Hot Or Not videos, lots of hauls and is very makeup oriented. I like that. It’s like watching the news for makeup. One of my favourite types of videos is where she buys really expensive products (e.g. LV lipstick), tries them out and then says if they are worth the splurge or not.

Busbee style

I heard about Erin from Marnie. She is a stylist and a mom. She does lots of video about what to wear, the trends etc. She has also done a video where she styled her friend and I thought that was a great idea.

Mimi Ikonn

Mimi lives in London but has family in Canada (she used to live there). She does a lot of travelling and is more on the alternative side. Her vlogs and videos clear and crispy. Very instagrammable. She is lovely to watch.

So, there you have it. If you are not subscribed to these channels, yu should definitely check them out and subscribe. Don’t forget to ‘follow’ me somewhere, somehow (scroll up to the sidebar on ways to connect). I have been doing #BEDA, so press that category if you want to check out some more April blog posts.

Hi loves,

I am off to Birmingham (UK) on Tuesday and I am just taking a carry on suitcase. My travel makeup bag is one of the things I will have with me and in today’s post, I will show you how I pack and what goes inside my makeup bag.

Planning what to take

I have all my makeup in various pots.and containers. I bring them all together and start deciding on what to take based on the way I do my makeup. I started with priming and foundation/concealers. I then moved on to eyes and blushes. The final stage is my lippies.

Bits & Bobs: Food, Makeup, and Vest Tops

Hi guys!

I am just going to write a short post about some of the things I have been doing lately and show you some of the stuff I bought, in case you are in spendy mode. So, here goes.

Wining and Dining

On Sunday I went for dinner with two of my favourite people and we went to this traditional tavern called Avli (avli means back/front yard). We sat inside cause it was quite chilly and ordered loads of yummy foods. We got fried cheese (saganaki),lamb chops ( of course), salad, meat balls in yoghurt, and stuffed potato with veggies. It was fun. We stayed there until 11 and then went home cause Monday is a work day.

Spendy Mode

I also did a bit of shopping. I bought some makeup and 4 things from H & M.

I wanted to try the Estee Lauder Double Wear Makeup to go Liquid compact. It’s consistency and coverage is lighter than the Double Wear foundation I swear by, but you can put it in your purse and take it with you, so I thought I’d give it a shot.

I also got the Lancome Grandiose Mascara which I have been eyeing for a while but never bought it. I got it in the colour Violet. It is also the mascara with the most product in it 10 ml.

Price for both products 58 euro

M3.jpg

I popped into H & M to buy some vest tops in order to be able to layer clothes and stuff and bought 3. There is a wide range of colours and the quality is good. It doesn’t feel plastic-y. The vest tops are long (they go up to your thigh). Price 4.99 for each vest.

2 V.jpg

I also got a lip balm I did not need but I liked the packaging and well, I will chuck that in my bag as well. Dunno the price ❤ ❤

1 L.jpg

Hmmm what else? Oh! I started watching the Netflix show Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. I have also been binge watching videos of What would you Do (that’s an ABC show) on YouTube and I love watching people’s reactions to ‘extreme’ scenarios. You should check it out.

I am getting ready for my teacher conference in Birmingham. Cannot wait to go to the UK. OK. Shutting up now. Thanks for reading. If you have tried any of the things mentioned, let me know in the comments below. If you have any chick/romance kind of TV series to suggest, tell me.
