What’s in my bag: After Covid

How has what is in your everyday handbag been affected by Covid? My handbag contents have changed ever since that spikey little ball entered our lives and lockdown eased.

👜👜👜👜👜👜👜👜👜👜👜👜

What is my bag?

I bought this lovely pale pink cross body bag from Amazon for sixteen pounds. It has loads of compartments and fits loads and some more.

What is in my bag?

Covid essentials

Hand sanitiser

Face covering

Gloves

Wipes

Other essentials

My phone which has such a pretty case (it also serves as a purse) is one of the first things I check and chuck into my bag (oh by the way, most of the things I mention are linked in my videos’ description box… Yeah… There is a video).

Makeup

I have a little makeup pouch. In it I keep a clinique lippie, my Anthelios sun screen and my Maybelline Age rewind. These are the things that I take with me if I am not planning on going out for drinks and stuff!

Other things

An umbrella. We are in the UK. It rains.

My white stick coz, well, I use it to help me navigate and to let people know I cannot see.

My keys, paracetamol, my baby aspirin, a little mirror, a perfume.

Not sure if I forgot anything, but please watch my video for the whole video. Also, trying to reach 500 subscrbers, so if you like what you watch, please subscribe.

When colours become a burden

I usually moan about being colourblind and wearing makeup, trying to be a fashionista. A world where colours define you. Make you feel in or out… but is there anything kinda cool about it??

OK, let’s press rewind a minute (yeap, I am from the time where “rewind” was a thing). So, I spent loads of years thinking, believing, knowing that apart from being visually impaired (registered partially sighted), I was also red/ green colour blind. Kinda amazing coz, well, women are not rarely colour blind (that is a myth people! 1/200 gals are colour blind).

So, as a teacher and someone who is into research, I decided to volunteer and take part in research that had to do with glasses that supposedly corrected colour vision (if only it was that simple). Anyhoo, I did this specialised test and found out that I am not red/green colour blind. I am an incomplete achromat which means I have a bit of colour vision. I am closer though to those who see black, grey, and white. Now that is RARE. Still in the process of figuring out what is going on though.

How could I not know? Well, I always knew my colour vision sucked which is why I always asked people for help with colours, therefor no problemo!

The… Pros?

The main disadvantage of being colourblind is not being able to see colours. Don’t get me wrong, it sucks. A lot. As lot as a lot can be, but it is also liberating for me, as a woman (when I am in a free spirit mood).

Liberating????

Think about all the colours you do not wear coz you think they do not suit you. I do not have that problem. I have no idea what looks shit on me (unless someone tells me), so I am free. I just go for it.

I wear brights, neons, pinks, reds, yellows, the lots! And it is fine. I get compliments even. I stand out.

My manager said the other day

Nice colour Joanna. Very bright….

Huh?? Had I known my top was bright, would I have worn it? Probably not. I would have thought,

I cannot wear something bright to work

But I did… And I can… And it doesn’t matter!!!

My lippies are pinks. Pinks that most of my friends are scared to go near. I wear them and they say,

Oh! It looks nice! Get it.

The interesting thing is that they say,

You can pull off those colours

Can I? Or is it about living in the bliss of not knowing…

I buy clothes (which I do not know how to match), but I buy if I think it looks good against my skin. If the top looks good, I get it!

I am free till I am not. Until everything needs to match, my insecurities take over, and I just conform to the norm. A world where everything is colour coded.

Except when they are not and then you are free…. to colour… without worrying about colours…

The Maxi Dress Monster…..

My boyfriend asked me why I don’t wear dresses. I thought to myself.

Why don’t I?

Well, I thought they’d make me look bigger than what I am. I thought they’d emphasize my lymphodema. I just forgot about them and just kept on buying trousers.

One day I was in New Look and saw a pretty leopard print maxi dress. I tried it on. I liked it, but I thought to myself,

I cannot wear dresses in public.

Or can I?

A few days fast forward, I showed my friend Marina (she was visiting from Greece).

I said proudly,

Look at the dress I got for the beach!!

She said,

Why won’t you wear it anywhere else?

Umm cause my body shape was a fat pear and cause I didn’t wanna look like a fatso box.

But then I stood in front of a mirror. Vanity started floating in the air…

Hmmmm I can pull this off.

So, I did. I wore my maxi dress in London and loved it.

I felt sophisticated and fun. Summery and free. I wanted to twirl in my dress.

Then a monster was born. The Maxi Dress Shopper Monster. I have five dresses now. I 😍 them all.

I filmed a ”get ready with me” video showing you a dress I got from Debenham,’s. If you have time, check my video out. Dosubscribe to my channel. I would appreciate the support.

That is all for now. I hope you enjoyed my ramble. Till next time

H&M clothes & accessories haul

Hi lovelies,

I did a bit of shopping from H& M, so I thought I’d show you what I got along with my Get Ready with me video.

But first, what did I get?

Jewelry

I got this lovely chunky pearl earring. I think they look really nice paired with a nice spring knit or blouse. They can transform your outfit into something really glam.

Layered (-ing) necklaces

So, shell fish-y hangy stuff are all over the place. I got this necklace that is da embodiment of summer. It will look great with a V neck. You can wear it on it’s own or with other pieces.

I also got a necklace with a small circle hanging on it. I think that looks really chic.

Clothes

A wide leg pair of smart trousers. I have bought more classic looking trousers from H&M before and they are great value for money. Have washed my winter pair many times and they are still a great fit. This pair is more lightweight. The only thing I do not love about them is that they are quite high waisted.

Snake Print shirt

I ❤ animal print. Most of the things I have are leopard print. That is why I bought my first snake print shirt. Ideal for going out. What do you think?

Light (knit) blouses

At 8.99 I got three. A white, a pink and a black blouse. I made the mistake of buying the pink one in XLarge and it is quite big. I bought the others in Large. They are nice and soft, a bit baggy, the sleeves do not drown you and I 😍 them. Great basics for Spring 🌹🌷🌹

I also got this pretty hair tie which is very on trend at the moment. I really like this and it does make my hair look a bit more put together.

Now time for the Tube…

YouTube

My YouTube video is me showing you my work outfit. I wear the pink blouse, another H&M wide leg trouser, the necklace and makeup… On my face. And since I am talking about makeup, my look is a very easy everyday makeup look.

My video (please watch and maybe subscribe 😀😀)

Thanks for stopping by. Don’t forget to follow my bog.

Till next time….

Curvy gal fashion

Hi lovelies!!

It has been a while since I sat and wrote a blog post.

To be honest, I am not actually sitting, I am tucked in bed, drinking coffee and thinking about clothes. Yeap.

That is why I am writing my blog post today. Let’s talk about fashion. Buying clothes.

My size

I am a UK 16, but that fluctuates, depending on the store and the clothing item. For trousers, I usually buy 16-18 (H&M or M&S), for tops I can wear 14-16. I usually buy clothes that are large or extra large.

YouTube

I have filmed a few videos about clothes and styling and I will share them here coz of course I am going to shame. Essly plug my channel.

So my glam Get Ready with me featuring zara leopard print and pearls

A Prinark haul try on

A Work Outfit Get ready with me (H&M/Zara)

Tomorrow I will be filming a spring get ready with me, so stay tuned.

I hope you check out my videos xx

Curvy gal Get Ready With Me ❤❤

Hi Lovelies,

Being a 16+ can make it a bit hard to shop. Today, I am sharing with you a glam get ready with me for the curvy gal like me. I filmed a video where I show you the complete look. Clothes and makeup. Some bits and bobs are shared in this post, but loads of info is in the video.

My Clothes

You can get the trousers here. (affiliate link)

I love these trousers. They are wide leg and very easy to style. They have proper pockets. The material is like a soft pair of jeans with some sort of cloth in it. It does not crease. I loved it so much, I bought another colour (wine).

(Some of) My Makeup

Makeup revolution foundation: Love it. It is not drying if you put on moisturiser and primer. It gives a flawless base look.
Rimmel Wild Card blusher: My winter blusher. It needs blending. Do not go in heavy handed.
Rodial mascara: Too expensive. There are others that do the same job.

This is my Get Ready with me Video. I kinda like the final look 😍 (toot toot).

What do you think? If you are a curvy gal like me, what are your fave shops for buying clothes? Let me know in the comment below.

Five Friday Faves

Hi!!

I thought I’d share with you another Five Friday Faves post video. What is Five Friday Faves? Well, I talk about Five random things I have been loving. I talk about makeup, skincare, books, clothes and more.

So, let’s start.

1. Oasis

I love shopping from Oasis and I picked up two things during the sales; a bag and a top.

The bag has leather details, stripes, and a big bow. It has some pockets inside. It is a “chuck in everything bag”. I use mine to go shopping and stuff like that.

I also bought a lilac top. It is very lightweight material. The cute thing about it are the sleeves. They look like they are lace. So pretty.

2. Kefir Quark

I am a mac n’cheese kinda girl cause well it is quite hard to sustain this bod 😜. From time to time though, I slip off the unhealthy bandwagon and try something healthier. I bought my first (and not last) Kefir quark. I got it because I was looking for something good for my stomache (it is ideal if you are on antibiotics). I got the chia and raspberry flavour. It tastes a bit like a sour Greek yoghurt. It is thick and a bit sour. The seeds make it taste a bit yummier. I also add weetabix to mine and it makes a yummy filling brecki.

3. Olay Serum

So, full name is Olay anti-wrinkle 2 in 1 firm and lift booster and serum. It comes with a pump. It is a serum you can use before your moisturiser or under your makeup. It does plumpen up your skin. It is for women 40+. It does not break me out or sting. I usually wear it at night and in the morning my skin feels nice and soft.

4. Summer at Rose Island (by Holly Martin)

Time for some chick lit. Girl meets boy in a British UK seaside resort. There is a lighthouse. It has all that are essential for a big love story. I like it because it is funny and fast paced. A page turner coz it is fun.

5. Clinique Chubby Stick in

I have mentioned my chubby sticks over and over. They are so easy to use. I am partially sighted (I cannot see) , so it is very easy to mess up my eye makeup. These eyeshadow sticks are very easy to control. The pigmentation is quite good. The application is super easy. It spreads evenly and does not really crease (unless you colour your lids in too much and then, yes, after a while, it may crease). I have a couple of shades, but the one I reach for most often is Fuller Fudge.

So, you can now watch my video where I talk about these faves in more detail (maybe even subscribe to my channel?? 😍😍).

Have you tried any of these products? What are your Friday faves? Let me know in the comments below. Don’t forget to “follow” my blog (or Youtube channel), so that you never miss out on my super duper rambles.

Thanks for stopping by.
