Caudalie Instant Foaming Cleanser Review

Hi lovelies,

I may not be amazing at putting on makeup or applying my creams, but I am VERY meticulous when it comes taking off makeup.

In my 42 years on da planet, I think I have never slept with makeup on.

I always take it off. My cleansing may not be very thorough when it is 4 a.m. after a night out, but it does exist and I think that is one of the reasons my skin is in such a good condition.

Today I will talk about one of my favourite cleansing products.

Caudalie Instant Foaming Cleanser

What it doesn’t do

It does not take off layers of heavy duty makeup.

What it does

It is great for a final cleanse. The cleanse that comes after all the other cleanses. The one you do when you have used your oils to get the annoying waterproof mascara off, the non budge eye shadow stick.

It is great for the first morning wash. The one you do in the morning when you wake up and want your skin to feel fresh and soft

Texture

It is a lightweight foam. It is not a thick foam. It is actually like putting a cloud on your face (not that I know what a cloud would feel like).

Scent

It smells like chamomile. It does not linger on your face though.

Packaging

It comes in a plastic pump bottle with a pump and a clear cap. It is 150 ml

According to the Sephora website,

This product is vegan, non-toxic, cruelty-free, dermatologist tested, hypoallergenic, safe for sensitive skin, and free of all synthetic chemicals, gluten, GMOs, and fillers

Ingredients Guru

Some of the ingredients in it are:

Water, Glycerin, Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Caprylyl/Capryl Glucoside, Sodium Chloride, Citric Acid, Caprylyl Glycol,Fragrance, Coco-Betaine, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Methyl Cocoyl Taurate,Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate, Sodium Phytate, Matricaria Flower Extract, Sage Leaf Extract.

Me, me, me

My skin is dry and sensitive. It does not make my skin pull. It does not sting and it does not make my skin red. I have repurchased it many times. I str4ongly recommend you check it out.

Greek Skincare Review: Medi sei, Korres & Fresh Line

Hi everyone!

Today I am going to talk to you about a few products I rediscovered whilst in Greece. They are all skincare related. The brands are Korres, Fresh Line and Medi sei. I am actually holding an itsy bitsy giveaway on my YouTube channel of one of these products, so do check out the video linked at the end of this post if you are interested.

Korres

I have already written a blog post about the Korres Wild Rose exfoliator. It is so nice to use and the scent is amazing (if you love rose scents this is for you!!). You can check out my full review here. I also tried a couple of the Korres shampoos, but do not really recommend them. There is actually a shampoo that is supposed to help regrowth of hair, but I cannot really say if it actually does. Didn’t really notice anything guys! What I did notice is that if you just use the shampoo, your hair is not nice and soft. In fact, it gets a bit tangled.

Medi sei

Panthenol Extra line: All the products mentioned are from the panthenol extra line. All the products have panthenol which is a very hydrating ingredient linked to vitamin B5.

20171228_232316 (1).jpg

Triple defense eye cream

I am using this eye cream at the moment. It is very hydrating, gets absorbed quickly and does not sting. It is anti wrinkle and without harsh ingredients.

Spray body Lotion

This is the lazy girl body spray. You need to check this out if you do not really moisturise your body. A few spritzes and you are ready to go. The scent is very light and it feels very hydrating. Not sticky, kinda water-y.

Cream for sensitive skin

Again a hydrating lotion for sensitive skin. Parabens free. If you like creams and have sensitive skin, you should check this out. I have a full review of these products here.

crea

Fresh line

Cocooning and calming body lotion and body wash.

This is what I am giving away on my YouTube channel. I ❤ this product. If you have trouble sleeping, you definitely need to check it out. It is amazing. You put some on your skin and the scent makes you relax and wanna sleep. I really recommend trying this out if you haven’t (why not take part in the giveaway on my YouTube channel).

More details about these products in the video 🙂

Panthenol Extra Spray Body Lotion Review (Greek Skincare)

Hi everyone!

Today I am going to talk about Greek skin care cause the beauty industry in Greece especially as far as skin care is concerned, is full of gems.We have a lot of brands which specialise in skin care. One of these brands is Medisei. I was given the Panthenol extra Body Lotion Spray and have been using it for about 3 weeks now, so I thought…. time to review it (and yes, you will be able to get your hands on it, cause I will give you links to pharmacies which ship internationally). So, let’s talk about this spray.

According to the website, Panthenol Extra Body Lotion Spray

Is great for flaky and dry skin
Helps to give you radiant smooth skin

It has Panthenol, Aloe Vera and Calcium in it and is Paraben free. But what is Panthenol anyway? It is also known as pantothenic acid and it is a natural ingredient often found in plants and a form of Vitamin B5. Panthenol hydrates and moisturises skin and is often used in skin and hair care.

Medisei Panthenol extra lotion.jpg

What do you think Joanna?

I love the fact that it is a body lotion spray because I often skip the body body lotion skincare stage. I am lazy!! As this is a spray, you just spritz it all over, rub it in your skin, and you are done. It is not greasy or runny, so it does not take ages to blend into your skin. It gets absorbed immediately and that’s what I want! I would say it is a semi- fine mist which is not too water-y. Also, you do not need a ton of product to moisturise your skin. So, value for money.

Does it leave the skin feeling hydrated and smooth?

Hydrated? Yes! You also don’t have to wait for it to get absorbed (as I said earlier). So, you spray it, wait for a few seconds and then you can put on your clothes without worrying about getting your pjs wet (I usually spray this on me after my nighttime shower and before bed). Smooth? Yes? Like a baby? Hmm, probably not, but smoother than before, yes!

What about radiance?

Hmm… cannot say lovelies. Smooth skin? Yes. Radiant? Dunno.

The packaging?

Plastic round bottle (spray) 100 ml, so you can take it with you when travelling. Not heavy. Not flimsy.

Is there a scent?

Yes. It smells clean and it kind of reminds me of CK one. It does not smell girlie nor boyish (neutral scent and not overpowering).

Do you recommend this product?

Yes! I will buy a new one when this runs out.

How can I get this product?

I found a website/ pharmacy that ships internationally (you can find loads of Panthenol Extra and other Greek skin care on this site). The website also says that you get free samples. I have not used this website and do not know how long the process takes. You can check it out though by clicking here.On the website this product retails for about 9 euros. If you don’t want to order online, you can book a holiday to Greece and find the spray in any pharmacy in Greece 🙂

So, if you are in Greece and have tried this spray, let me know what you think.

All about lips (Clinique) product review

Hi everyone,

Today I am going to review the Clinique All about Lips lotion. I get very dry lips and this happens even though I am always using a lip balm or some kind of lip moisturiser. I thought I’d give this product a try because it claims to help the lips in so many ways.

Important information

Price: $23.50

Weight: 12 ml

Packaging: Plastic bottle with a cap. It has a pump.

thumbnail_IMG_20170123_233133_021.jpg

According to the Clinique website, All about Lips,

Delivers both immediate and long-term results to minimize evidence of fine lines, wrinkles and sun damage, giving the lip area a smoother, firmer look and feel. De-flakes lips, helping lip colour glide on, resist feathering.

You can apply it before your lipstick as many times a day you want.

How do I use it?

I use it before my lipstick, but I do wait for it to dry a bit/ get absorbed (ten secs). I then put on my lipstick.

Does this lip lotion affect the way my lipstick looks?

Yes. It makes a matte lipstick look a bit more dewy, shiny.

How does it feel with a lippie on top?

Max Factor Pink Brandy.jpg

The lipstick kind of glides on the lip and your lips feel moisturised and soft. I do feel a bit scared when I apply because it seems to make my lipstick a bit slippery, but it does not make your lipstick bleed. I also applied lipstick for a bit longer when the lotion was on my lips. This is because it feels like your lippie glides on and as your skin feels a bit oilier, you do not really ‘feel’ how much you are applying. You see, the sensation is different. Also, when you wear this under your lipstick, your lips feel fuller. It creates a smooth surface.I was wearing a Max Factor 825 in Pink Brandy.

Below you see two pictures. One with the lotion and one without

Without All about lips under my lippie

without-all-about-lips

With all about lips

with

How much product do you need?

One pump is enough.

All about lips.jpg

See a difference?

I do see the lotion on the sides of my lips, but that goes away with time.OK, now you can say, Well Jo, you didn’t really apply it well, but do keep in mind, this product is in a pump and you put it on your finger and then on your lips. Maybe I could use a brush in stead? I do think if it had a doe foot applicator though it would look less messy.

But

I will  continue to apply this throughout the day and before I go to bed. I am still not convinced my lipstick looks better with the lotion underneath.

Will you repurchase?

Yes, but more as a moisturising/ balm type of product and not as a lipstick base type of product.

Do you recommend it?

Yup. It does leave your lips softer and smoother. The feeling lasts longer than when wearing a lip balm.

I did a big skincare haul with different types of creams and lotions. If you are interested in face masks, hand creams and lip balms/ creams, do check my video out.

Have you tried Donkey Milk Soap??

Hi everyone!

I went to a Bazaar the other day and saw handmade donkey milk soap. I was intrigued. I had seen it before sold in pharmacies and decided to get some and try it out. I had not read anything about its benefits and knew nada, but bought it anyway.

Now I know that donkey milk has a lot of benefits.

Donkey milk Soap

Is good for eczema, psoriasis and dermatitis.

It is used as part of the anti-aging regimen.

It does not cause skin irritation.

It helps skin stay soft and hydrated and helps against skin bacterial infection.

soap.jpg

Donkey are mono-gastric animals like humans which means they have one stomach and digest milk the same way as people do. That is why a lot of people drink it as well. Pop Francis said he drank it as a child (that’s what I read in the Telegraph anyway!). Cleopatra had bathes in it.Before you go out and milk a donkey and start drinking its milk, do ask a doctor cause I just read stuff online. I am no doctor!

My experience

I tried it and I can say that it made my skin feel soft and tight.I have eczema on my hands and the inflammation has gone down a bit (but I do still use the special creams I have). The scent is a bit yucky, but nothing you cannot ignore!

If you have bad eyesight like me, I think that eyeshadow crayons are the way to go because they allow you to have a better control of what you are using and there are not that many chances of fallout.

You can watch the video here. I know the lighting is funny, but I am still trying to figure out how to film.

Thanks for stopping by. Don’t forget to follow me somewhere somehow (check sidebar/ YouTube).

Have a lovely day/ night.

My ‘dumb’ beauty buy: 1st impressions

C’mon we have all done this, bought something completely stupid, just to try it!!! OK. Let’s get some context.

I was having one of those days, after payday, where I was in the town center and in a spendy mood. I walked into H & M and went to the makeup counters. Lots of pretty things and then I saw a little bottle/tube that looked like lipgloss but had glitter in it.  So, my brain died for a minute and yeap, I bit the bullet and bought a lip glitter thingy…. and I am showing you what I got and how I used it (and how I will never use it again except Halloween? Christmas?) Oh! This is not a ‘hate’ post. This is a fun product, just not for a 40 year old teacher like me!

What did I get?

The Dazzle lip Topper in Glisten Up

thumbnail_20161006_183734-1[1].jpg

How does it feel?

Plumping. Weird. I don’t like the plumpy feeling.Glitter on a water-y liquid. Not like a lipgloss. It feels more like a micellar water with glitter. It has different specks. Pink, blue etc.

What does it look like?

Ta daaaaaaaaaaaaa

Fancy Freesia was the lipstick I was wearing (h & M) and the dazzling lip top is on top.

thumbnail_20161006_183017-1[1].jpg

One word: Yuck. The pic does not do it justice :p

I will give it another go when my brain is in a funky mood I guess. So, there you have it lovelies. My #dumbbeautybuy (that would be a cool hashtag). Have you had one of these? What did you get? Let me know in the comments below.

To the Test: skincare: Clinique Redness Solutions Soothing Cleanser

pinIf you have redness, sensitive skin and some sort of Rosacea, this post is for you. For the past 10 days I have been using the Clinique Redness Solutions Daily Relief Cream. I wrote a To the Test post where I give an in-depth review.  So, when I bought the redness solutions cream, the lady at the Clinique counter suggested I try it with the Redness Solutions Soothing Cleanser with probiotic technology. So, I did and today, I will tell you my 1st impressions and give a mini review.

BUT

First of all, let’s see what probiotic technology means and why it’s good for the skin. Probiotic

a food or pill that contains good bacteria that may keep you healthy (Cambridge online dictionary)
You usually find the term on yoghurt and in…. skincare.

According to Dr Bowe (cited on the Elle.com )

“Both [internal and external application of probiotics] have been shown to affect the skin in a significant way”

& they are great

“For antiaging, and also to help with chronic skin conditions—things like acne, rosacea, and eczema.”

So, probiotics it is then.

f1b9ff52-a510-4dc7-bbc9-a69f34afb701

Now, let’s see what the (Greek) Clinique Pamphlet says about this product,

  • It takes off makeup and dirty particles in the atmosphere.
  • it soothes redness and irritation

                                                       (pamphlet translated by…. me)

Is this info True or False?

Well,

  • It does take off some makeup (can’t tell if it gets rid of the yucky city pollution etc. etc.).
  • It does soothe the skin.

Sooooooooooo, kinda true and TRUE.

My opinion

Packaging

It comes in a sturdy tube and it is 150 ml. It has a b ig cap and it is hard to bend the tube, so there is no danger that a hole will form and product will start dripping out.Once you open it, you can keep it for 24 months.

Cost

In Greece this retails for 28. 25 euros

(I got it during a 30% Off sale from Galerie De Beaute. That’s a store similar to Sephora/ Boots. FIY if you are a makeup junkie and are planning a trip to Greece, buy your beauty stuff from here cause we always have sales!).

How does this feel on the skin?

It feels soothing and soft. It is a cream form, but not a heavy cream that takes ages to wash off.

thumbnail_20161002_113439-11

Once you rinse it off?

Well, if you like your skin feeling squeaky clean, this does not do that. I mean, it doesn’t  strip your skin. It is a mild cleanser which is what you need cause you do not want your skin getting more red. Once you rinse it off, your face feels nice and clean. No greasy residue.

Can I use it to take off my makeup?

Yes, but it does not take everything off. I used it to take my ‘going out’ makeup (which is a lot of stuff on me face) and there was still makeup left on my face after using this cleanser. So, I went in with another cleansing product as well. I think if you are wearing a BB cream and some blush, it will be ok to use, but if you have a ‘full face’ this is not enough.

Am I happy with this purchase?

Yes.

Why?

Because I like using it before bed or when I wake up in the morning. It does take ‘light’ makeup off and I am also very happy with the Clinique Redness Solutions Daily Relief Cream because, yes, I have seen the redness soften. My rosacea hasn’t gone away, and I do not expect it to, but I am really pleased with the results so far. Now, I have two products working against rosacea and redness.

You can read my review of the cream Clinique Redness Solutions Daily Relief Cream here.

This is my second #Blogtober post, you can read the first one which is about planning here.
