#Marchfavouirtes: beauty and random

Hi lovelies,

Another #monthlyfavourites post. Here is what I loved in beauty and other random stuff in the month of March.

🌹🌹Beauty🌹🌹

Lush Lip exfoliator

This exfoliator tastes like bubblegum. It leaves your lips soft and a bit puffy. I like it!

Lush.jpg

L’oreal Infallible 24 hr Matte foundation

I love this foundation for everyday andĀ am on my second tube. As for the cushion foundation shown in the picture, unfortunately, it did not work for me. You can read all about that here.

Burberry eyebrow definer

I am still trying to get a handle of this but I love the result (done by the makeup artist). The whole experience at the Burberry counter was amazing. You can read my full review here.

H&M Blush: Apricot

I have been loving the H&M blush in the shade apricot. It’s nice and great for this season.

Clinique: Take the Day Off Cleanser

I love this product. I have actually written a review about it and you can find it here. It’s amazing! You need to try it out.

🌹🌹Random Stuff🌹🌹

Lipstick holder

I have been misplacing and not being able to find my lippies for a long time now. I purchased a lipstick older/storage thingy and everything is much easier now.

TV series

I binge watched this TV show called Younger. It is about a 40-year-old divorcee who is having trouble finding work and decides to say she is 26 in order to….. survive. I really enjoyed it. Light hearted and fun. You can watch the trailer here.

Song

If you went away by Daniel Wilson.

Ā YouTuber

Elle Florence. I enjoy watching her videos. She seems so sweet and eloquent. She is a lawyer in Canada. You should check her channel out.

Bea from Thatsobee.com told me about BEDA (blogging every day in April). I am going to try it out, but I am not sure I will succeed. Let’s see. Don’t forget to check out her blog if you haven’t yet!

A Happy Moment for me

I had a great moment this month as I got two of my blog posts published in the Huffington Post. You can check them out here and here.

Clinique: Take the Day Off Cleansing Balm

I had one of those” YouTube made me buy it moments” with this one lovelies! I had watched loads of Youtubers talk about the Clinique Take the Day Off balm and I thought I’d give it a shot. I am not the bestĀ at makeup and tutorials, but for someone in her 40s, I have really good skin, and I think it has to do with the following: I take my makeup removing and cleansing routine VERY seriously ( I may not be great with moisturising my skin and creams and stuff but I have neva, eva slept with my makeup on). So, let’s see. What doĀ I think?

clinique

According to the Clinique website itĀ is aĀ ,

Lightweight makeup removerĀ ………. Transforms from a solid balm into a silky oil upon application. Cleans thoroughly, rinses off completely. Gently helps remove the stress of pollution so skin looks younger, longer. Non-greasy. Non-drying. Ophthalmologist Tested. For all skin types.

My Opinion

I absolutely love it (with a passion). It feels nice and soft when you pt it on your skin. You rub it and it takes off almost everything. I put it on my lashes and massaged gently and it took off my mascara as well!!! It did not sting at all!A little goes a long way. I absolutely recommend this!! After using the balm I also use a cleansing wipe just to see if there was residue on my face and there was only an itsy bitsy bit of mascara. When I wiped my face on my towel, nothing was transferred to the towel. My skin felt nice and soft after using the balm.It is odourless. and not oily. When you wash it off, you do not feel greasy. My skin is sensitive dry.

L’oreal mini haul and 1st impressions

Hi lovelies,

Happy Easter to those who are celebrating, otherwise happy Sunday to the rest of us.

I have been gathering and trying out L’oreal products for the past few weeks and now I will tell you what I think. e me tell you hat I am going to go from Positive to negative and then back to positive Also, I usually buy high-end makeup and cosmetics, but L’oreal is my favourite ‘drugstore’ brand ā¤ ā¤

Loreal haul

L’oreal Infallible 24H Matte

ā¤ I love this foundation. It applies well. For me it’s medium to full coverage (but my skin in general is in a good condition. I don’t have breakouts or acne spots etc.). I got it in the shade 11 Vanilla). It lasts a long time. This is a repurchase and I use this as my everyday makeup.

L’oreal Nude Magique Cushion

šŸ’”Ā  My skin is sensitive and combination.Ā I have dry patches and areas that are not dry. I definitely do not have oily skin. Why am I saying this? Well, I tried this product once, twice, a third time. I just don’t like it. It looks too shiny in a bad way. I look so oily. I love the concept though. I like the packaging. The sponge. It looks pretty but unfortunately it is not for me. Not repurchasing this one.

open.jpg

Ā BrowArtist Sculpt

šŸ’” I liked the idea of this, butĀ unfortunately this didĀ not work for me. Yu use this to fill in your brows and then there is a brush (mascara for the brows). I did not have trouble filing in my brows, but I could not use the mascara brush on my eyes cause I would smudge it everywhere. I could not apply it properly and it did not look nice on me. I am not totally sure if this fail was cause I am heavy-handed or the wand with the two brushes is not that great to use.

Brush.jpg

Eye shadow MatteĀ  in the colour 104

ā¤ ThisĀ  a pink eye shadow.I’d say the texture s more on the powder side and not so much creamy. I did have fall out when applying to my eyes, but I used mascara to cover up any powder on my lashes and it was fine. I like the product, just go in a bit carefully cause otherwise you get theĀ  product on your lashes and under your eyes.

Le Blush

ā¤ I got hs blush in the colour Rosy CheersĀ No.Ā 165. It looks pretty. I like it. A nice pink.

In the picture I am wearing the pink eyeshadow, the blush, and the foundation.Ā  I do not like wearing too much (visible) makeup.Primer is Estee Lauder matte primer. The brow pencil is from Burberry and so is the rose wood eye shadow (eye contour). The lippie is from H& M Fancy Freesia. Finally, I am wearing Chanel Les Beiges health Glow Sheer Powder

Hae you tried any of these products? What are your thoughts? Feel free to leave a comment in the section below.

Burberry makeup mini haul & review

Last week I was in Athens (Greece) and I went to this big department store called Attica. I just wanted to have a look around, but then I spotted the Burberry Makeup Counter and little love hearts started flying out of my eyes. I had heard so much about their makeup line but I had neverĀ  seen it in person, let alone buy something!

I went closer to the counter and saw the Burberry Makeup artist ( Vasilios Gelis). I said, ” Oh! You have Burberry here? How cool! I want to try something”. He said, ” How about something for your brows?” Of course!! My brows needed some serious attention! I was excited. I was going to get my brows drawn on by the Burberry makeup artist.

Burberry

I sat on the stool and he chose my colour. You see, I am colourblind and always rely on what the makeup artists say. He told me he wanted something close to my eye brow colour (to match my hair), so he chose the Effortless Eyebrow Definer in the colour Ash Brown No.03

My brows were not in the best condition. I had slathered a different product on (review for that coming soon) and they looked crazy. Vasilios (that’s the name of the makeup artist), took that off and started working on drawing in missing hairs and giving shape to my brows

Vasilios’ words of wisdom,

Ā You need to brush the hair close to your eyes upwards, and start drawing what’s missing (my right brow is shorter than my left one, so he had to draw it in). Then you brush them again to take away excess product. You then need to define your brows and fill in the missing hair in the rest of your brow (brush hairs downwards and then start filling). It’s important to have a curve on your brow line. Always remember to brush your brows to take any excess product.

BB

I then said what aboutĀ my eyes? Do you have any kind of shadows in a stick? He chose the Eye Colour Contour in the shade Rose Wood No.112.

Vasilios’ Tips

Your eyes are close together, but you have a lot of space in the eye lid area and you need to take advantage of that. You can use shadow even a bit further above your eyeĀ crease. You can use a light shadow on more than half of your eye lid and then use theĀ  eye colour contour at the end. Draw a (sideways) triangle (with curves). Don’t forget! It is important to blendĀ the eye contour straight away and not at the end!

I had so much fun. He also suggested I try using the products myself with his guidance, but I got cold feet. Women were passing by and they commented on how lovely my makeup looked.

Vasilios also gave me a free lipstick sample in the colour Military Red N0.429. It looks really nice. I ā¤ my reds, so cannot wait to wear that!

swatches.jpg

I had so much fun. I don’t know if this was so enjoyable because Burberry trains their makeup artists this way, so thatĀ you, the customer, feel like a million bucks or if it was just Vasilios ( I had never met him before. This is not a sponsored post!). I think it’s both!

burberry 1

Duration of products

Both products lasted all day long. I went for lunch and then to the airport. I was in and out of the tube. I was in a rush, even got sweaty, but my makeup lasted!! I suggest you check out these products the next time you are in a store that sells Burberry cosmetics.

B PIN.jpg

If you come to Athens, definitely stop by the Burberry counter and get tips from Vasilios.

Have you tried these products? Do you have any other Burberry cosmetics suggestions I can try out? Feel free to leave a comment in the section below.

The Beauty Confessions Tag

Hi guys!

Today’s post is a tag. Yay. My first tag. So, Jessica from Ms. Adventures in Makeup tagged me in the #beautyconfessions tag and well, since I love makeup and all things beauty, here is my post. I have also tagged lovely bloggers at the end of my post.

So without further ado may the beautyĀ confessions begin………

Ā 1). Ā What is your biggest beauty product addiction (lippies, blushes, highlighter, bronzer, mascara etc.)?

Hmm. When I first saw this question I thought, ” Perfume” ,but when I looked at my vanity everything changed. My beauty addiction is……..lippies. I have loads!!

Lippie.jpg

2). Ā How many products from your addiction do you have?

Hang on! Let me go and count them :). Also, does lip gloss fall in this category? OK! So, I have about 40. Can I say, “I need them for my work/ blogging ?” :p

3). What is one type of beauty product you hate (highlighters, hairspray etc.)?

I don’t hate per se, but I cannot put on fake lashes for the life of me 😦 . I wish I could. Also, the fact that my vision is so bad makes falsies even harder so I do not do false lashes.

Ā 4). What has been your biggest challenge in beauty (e.g. a technique you learned or leaving a beauty comfort zone)?

Here is something interesting. I am colourblind. Everything in beauty is a challenge. I never know what colour a product is and it is so hard!! Nail polish is the hardest I guess.

5). What is one beauty comfort zone you don’t ever think you’ll leave?

Applying powder afterĀ I apply my foundation. I think it lasts longer and helps my makeup sit properly.

Glow.jpg

6). Ā What is one beauty thing you suck at (e.g. eyeliner like cat eye or taking your makeup off at the end of the day etc.)?

Eyeliner. I just getĀ the line wrong, so I don’t wear eyeliner anymore. Not taking off my makeup at night? That’s a no no. I have neva, eva slept in makeup!!

7). What is one thing in beauty that you don’t understandĀ the hype (technique, trend etc.)?

OK, so self tanning. Don’t get it. Don’t do it! Ā Sorry girls! I think this one is because I am in Crete, Greece and well, I don’t need to self tan!!!

City break:36 hours in Athens (girlie version)

Hi guys!

On Thursday the 17th of March I flew to Athens (Greece) cause I had some things to do and I decided to take you along and show you what I was up to. My 36 hours will be a bit different to what the typical tourist does cause, well, I have been to all the tourist attractions in Athens andĀ I lived there for 5 years. My post will be a bit of a strolling, shopping, and coffee/food :). No museums, no galleries and no ruins (although you really have to do all those first and add some of the stuff I did). So, lets walk around Athens girlie style!

ā¤ Day 1

I had to get up early cause my flight was at 6:45 and boarding time was 6:15. This meant that I got up at 4:45! Yeap! I was sleep walking. I was travelling with my sister. We got the plane to Athens and landed at around 7:30. It was too early to go to the hotel, so we decided to have some coffee and a toasted sandwich at Gregory’s in the airport. Gregory’s is a famous chain that has lots of sandwiches, pies and loads of coffees.

G.jpg

We then took the bus (line X95) to Ambelokipi which is central Athens. We were going to stay at the President hotel. We paid 97 euros for a double room (breakfast included). We were on the 15th floor.

I had not booked anything online, so this was the price we paid upon arrival (Booking.com was giving the room much cheaper, and when I told the receptionist she said that the hotel had lots of arrivals which was why the price went up). Anyways, not complaining about the price cause the hotel was worth it!!

We freshened up and then got a taxi to the center. You see if you take the metro (which is a 10 min walk from the hotel) it costs about 4 euro and a taxi ranges from 5-7. We were both beat and old :p , so we opted for the taxi!! Tip: Taxis parked outside the hotel are more expensive than just waving one from the street.

Our first stop was Ermou street which is at Syntagma square. That’s one of the central shopping areas in central Athens. Is it the most glamorous? No. But, it is outside and had some of the shops we really wantedto go to. I like Ermou. We went to M &S, H&M, Zara, MAC, and lots more. We had some coffee at a coffee shop and then did a bit more shopping.

We then went for lunch at a coffee bar/restaurant. It belongs to Elli hotel which is on Ermou street. I had some really yummy ravioli and coffee.

After that we went back to our hotel cause we had an appointment. We relaxed a bit and then went to Syntagma square again, this time for dinner at a Chinese restaurant called Attic Moon at Xenofontos 10. We had a yummy meal and then went back to the hotel and slept (you can check all the restaurants and hotels outĀ on tripadvisor as well).

Kineziko

ā¤ Day 2

We had a yummy breakfast, packed, and then left our luggage at the hotel reception. Again, took aĀ  taxi to Syntagma square and went to this big store called Public. You can find books, toys and anything tech related there. I got a book, my sister got some toys for my niece. If you are in the area, I definitely recommend going to the Grand Brittania for coffee or tea (luxury ā¤ ā¤ ).

We then left to stroll down Panepistimiou street which is one of my favourite streets.

Of course I did some damage in AtticaĀ department storeĀ (just a bit). Highlight of Attica was of course shoping at the Burberry counter where the Burberry makeup artist (Vasilios Gelis) showed me how to do my brows and was really really helpful (<3 <3). I felt like a doll after leaving Attica!! Full post coming soon cause I bought a few things from Burberry and learnt loads fromtheir makeup artist!!!

Ā We then went for coffee at City link (behind the Attica). This is an ‘in’ place with some coffee shops and restaurants.

At around 5:30 p.m. it was time to go, so we went back to our hotel. We took our suitcases and then got the metro to te airport. It took about 40 minutes from our hotel.

We left Athens at 9 p.m. and now I am back on my little island :). So there you have it guys.

Makeup Haul & 1st Impressions

So, today I am sharing a haul and a few first impressions with you guys. I have accumulated a few products and thought it was about time I shared what I got the past few months. Products are high-end and drugstore.

ā¤ Highlighters: Essence / H & M

I got two highlighters. One is from the brand Essence. It is called Soo glow cream to powder highlighter. I got itĀ in the shade 10 (yellow undertone). I bought it cause well YouTube made me do it.

1st impressions: Ā It does feel like a cream in the package, but when you apply it on your skin, it feels like a powder. It is easy to blend. It is glowy and from a distance you do not really see the glitter (subtle but there). There is no mirror in the compact.

I also got a new arrival from the H&M makeup line. This is called Glow to Go Highlighter stick in the shade Champagne pearl. This is a limited edition. It contains shea butter and Vitamin E.

1st impressions: When I opened it and tried to see the product it flew out of the packaging. Luckily nothing happened to the highlighter. It look beautiful on my hand. Haven’t worn it out yet! I don’t think I will be applying it as a stick though cause the stick is quite chunky.

highlitherswatches.jpg

Essence on the left/ H&M on the right

hgh.jpg

ā¤ Foundation: L’oreal

I repurchased the Infallible 24H-Matte foundation. It has medium coverage, feels nice on the skin and is long-lasting. I really liked this and that’s why this is a repurchase.

I also bought the L’oreal Nude Magic Cushion. Unfortunately, I do not like it. It has almost no coverage and looks shiny (in the bad way). My skin is combination and I have been told thatĀ this ‘cushion’Ā is better for dry skin. I was also told to apply it with a beauty blender and try to use some powder as well. So, I will give it another shot. Why will I give it another shot? Cause I like the packaging, the ideaĀ and I love L’oreal products. I will be back with a full review later on this month.

20160313_113611-1-1.jpg

ā¤ Estee Lauder

I got the Pure color Envy lip gloss in the shade 240 Passionate Fuschia. I love the colour, it lasts for a while, but it is a bit sticky (it’s glossy, so a bitĀ sticky). I love, love this one.

According to Estee Lauder’s website,

Now you have hours to glow. This luminous, long-wear BB brightens, perfects and corrects. Lightweight, moisture-fresh. Long-wear formula—8 hours.

Photo Opticā„¢ Technology brightens shadows, helps erase the look of fatigue, highlights facial features. Color true.

Minimizes imperfections including blemishes, dark circles, fine lines and wrinkles. Non-settling.

I will test it and let you know.

este.jpg

ā¤ Eyeshadow

This is a Greek brandĀ called Tommy G Woman. It is a shiny pink.

From left to right: Eyeshadow, lip gloss, concealer (not blended)

ā¤ Makeup Forever

I got the Makeup Forever Mist & Fix Makeup setting spray. Haven’t tried it yet. Will be back with a review on this one.

Mist.jpg

ā¤ Clinique

I got the Clinique Take the Day Off cleansing balm. I wanted to try this product and see what it’s like. Haven’t tried it yet. Will be back with a review later on.

clinique.jpg

ā¤ Caudalie

I got the Caudalie Instant foaming Cleanser. I love this cleanser. This is a repurchase. It is such a gently foam that has a subtle scent. I use it every morning to wash my face. Love, love, love.

M&S Toiletries: mini haul and review

I got a few things from Marks and Spencer’s the other day and I thought I’d share what I got and how I feel about these products. They are toiletries.

🌸 What did I get?

Floral collection China Blue La Porcelaine Blue which is a moisturising hand and nail cream.Ā  Fragrant Water lily shower gel with added moisturiser and fragrant water-lily anti-perspirant roll on.

M%S all

Price

Hand cream: €3.50

Roll on: €3.50

Shower gel: €3.50

I got these products in Greece during the sales.

🌸 Water lily Shower Gel (with added moisturiser)

wash

According to the tube this shower gel,

enriched with extract of water-lily and added moisturiser will cleanse your skin and help leave it soft, smooth and delicately scented

Does it do what it says?

Sure. The scent it leaves is subtle (water lily: floral scent-not too strong). I had a shower an hour ago and can still smell it. Does my skin seem softer. Sure, but doesn’t it always after a shower? It makes a few bubbles when you apply it. Would I repurchase? Sure.

🌸 Water lily anti-perspirant roll-on

roll

It’s a roll-on that smells like a water-lily. It smells for quite a while but I haven’t gone to the gym whilst wearing it, so don’t know if it is a heavy-duty anti-perspirant. The thing I do not like about the roll-on is the packaging. It is light, so good for travelling but the ball (roll?), which is used to apply the anti-perspirant, often gets stuck, and you need to move it with your fingers. Would I repurchase? Probably not cause of the packaging.

🌸 China Blue moisturising Hand and Nail cream

cream

According to the packaging this cream,

is a carefully formulated ph balanced cream with added moisturisers that will soften, condition and nourish hands and strengthen nails.

Does it do what it says?

Well, it’s a hand cream that does soften your skin. It does make them look a bit shiny. It is not greasy. The scent is of clean linen and it is quite strong. If you put too much on, it’s overbearing (for me at least). I have used hand and nail nourishing creams from M & S before, and IĀ ā¤ Ā them. Would I repurchase? Yes, already have. I would probably buy a different scent though.

Have you tried and M&S products? Let me know what in the comments below.

H & M lipsticks review and swatches

You probably know that H & M has come out with a makeup line. I have bought a few things from that line and have been pleasantly surprised by the quality of the products. The packaging is not as WOW as higher end products but the quality of the lipsticks especially is really good!!!

I have bought a couple of H & M lipsticks and I like them. They feel nice on the lips. They are easy to apply. They also stay on for a while. Pricewise they are less than 10 euros and the packaging is good.

šŸ’„My collection & Swatches

So, here are some of the H& M lipsticks I have in my collection and love.

The ones that I have got the most compliments for are Ablaze and Fancy Freesia (I am wearing Ablaze in the picture. I think….)

If you have an H& M nearby, I really recommend trying these lippies out. You will be pleasantly surprised.

2 disclaimers

šŸ’„:I am colourblind and have tried to give a detailed description of the lipstick shades for other CB ladies. My sister and mum helped me describe the colours. Unfortunately, like ALL makeup companies, H & M chooses to change the names of the colours on theĀ lipsticks, making it very difficult for me to know exactly what colour I am wearing).

šŸ’„šŸ’„:I purchased these products myself and I really like them ā¤ ā¤
