Blogmas day 4: The One About the hand Cream

Blogmas day 4:

The One About the Hand Cream

Let me tell you about a hand cream I bought and love

❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤

I have very dry hands. When I say dry, I mean painfully dry. My hands get red and the skin becomes all flaky. I buy loads of hand creams, but honestly, the only thing that really helps are creams that are from the pharmacy that have cortisone and some type of steroid in them.

20171204_094254

I have tried loads of creams. High end luxury brands and affordable drugstore ones. When my hands are in a better condition and do not require medicinal hand creams (I made that up or is it a term?), I like to buy hand creams that make my hands feel soft and smell nice.

Key word…. smell nice.

The other day in class one of my students offered me a hand cream and when I smelt it, I fell in love.

What is it?

The Body Shop Moringa hand cream.

It is in a squeeze tube. 100 ml. I bought mine for about 7 pounds. I think the original price is 12, but the Body Shop is having sales now, so you can get it for less.

It is a floral sent. Moringa is a flower.

The cream  has according to the packaging,

Seed oil from hand picked Moringa.

It is very hydrating, water-y feeling. It gets absorbed quickly and does not sting.

The scent is powerful but in a good way. If you love floral scents, you should check this one out cause it is amazing!!!

Blogmas/ Vlogmas and a skincare haul

I love blogging. I love writing. I started a new job though, I moved to York, and I do not have enough time to blog.

I also started a YouTube channel which I am trying to grow (not very successful at that I must admit).

I love Christmas and the holidays in general.

I love buying pressies for the people I love. I love sparkly, glittery things, and I enjoy going out and celebrating.

I decided I wanted to do Blogmas and Vlogmas. I decided pretty late though. It was actually on Friday. I thought I’d do Vlogmas. Today,Sunday, I thought I’d try to write more and do some sort of Blogmas as well. It will be hard but I will try.

Skincare haul Drugstore.jpg

Let me start with my first proper Vlogmas video which is a skincare haul. I love skin care. I buy and try loads of products. At the moment, I am using a lot of hand creams and lip balms. I am also really into double cleansing. So there are some cleasning products in my video. I’d love it if you checked it out.

Let’s talk about makeup essentials

If you had to pack your makeup bag with only your essentials, what would they be?

What are your essentials? For me, the most important part is a good foundation. Something that will give you a flawless base. Then you have a beautiful canvas to work on. I think blush, an eye crayon, mascara, and a (bright) lippie are the most important things.

My foundation is L’o’real infallible (vanilla).

My blush is fleur by Mac

My mascara is Bourjois Volume Reveal.

My eye crayon faves are Clinique chubby sticks

and my lippies are mostly Clinique Pops or L’real.

As far as brushes are concerned, my go to brand is real techniques, although currently, I am also using Elf brushes.

Everyday makeup essentials.jpg

I have loads of makeup bags. the one I have shared in my video (linked below) is from Primark. I think next sells pretty ones as well.

So, what are you essentials? Let me know in the comments below. If you enjoyed what you read, do subscribe to my blog. We can also connect on social media. Panthenol Extra Spray Body Lotion Review (Greek Skincare)

Hi everyone!

Today I am going to talk about Greek skin care cause the beauty industry in Greece especially as far as skin care is concerned, is full of gems.We have a lot of brands which specialise in skin care. One of these brands is Medisei. I was given the Panthenol extra Body Lotion Spray and have been using it for about 3 weeks now, so I thought…. time to review it (and yes, you will be able to get your hands on it, cause I will give you links to pharmacies which ship internationally). So, let’s talk about this spray.

According to the website, Panthenol Extra Body Lotion Spray

Is great for flaky and dry skin
Helps to give you radiant smooth skin

It has Panthenol, Aloe Vera and Calcium in it and is Paraben free. But what is Panthenol anyway? It is also known as pantothenic acid and it is a natural ingredient often found in plants and a form of Vitamin B5. Panthenol hydrates and moisturises skin and is often used in skin and hair care.

Medisei Panthenol extra lotion.jpg

What do you think Joanna?

I love the fact that it is a body lotion spray because I often skip the body body lotion skincare stage. I am lazy!! As this is a spray, you just spritz it all over, rub it in your skin, and you are done. It is not greasy or runny, so it does not take ages to blend into your skin. It gets absorbed immediately and that’s what I want! I would say it is a semi- fine mist which is not too water-y. Also, you do not need a ton of product to moisturise your skin. So, value for money.

Does it leave the skin feeling hydrated and smooth?

Hydrated? Yes! You also don’t have to wait for it to get absorbed (as I said earlier). So, you spray it, wait for a few seconds and then you can put on your clothes without worrying about getting your pjs wet (I usually spray this on me after my nighttime shower and before bed). Smooth? Yes? Like a baby? Hmm, probably not, but smoother than before, yes!

What about radiance?

Hmm… cannot say lovelies. Smooth skin? Yes. Radiant? Dunno.

The packaging?

Plastic round bottle (spray) 100 ml, so you can take it with you when travelling. Not heavy. Not flimsy.

Is there a scent?

Yes. It smells clean and it kind of reminds me of CK one. It does not smell girlie nor boyish (neutral scent and not overpowering).

Do you recommend this product?

Yes! I will buy a new one when this runs out.

How can I get this product?

I found a website/ pharmacy that ships internationally (you can find loads of Panthenol Extra and other Greek skin care on this site). The website also says that you get free samples. I have not used this website and do not know how long the process takes. You can check it out though by clicking here.On the website this product retails for about 9 euros. If you don’t want to order online, you can book a holiday to Greece and find the spray in any pharmacy in Greece 🙂

So, if you are in Greece and have tried this spray, let me know what you think.

All about lips (Clinique) product review

Hi everyone,

Today I am going to review the Clinique All about Lips lotion. I get very dry lips and this happens even though I am always using a lip balm or some kind of lip moisturiser. I thought I’d give this product a try because it claims to help the lips in so many ways.

Important information

Price: $23.50

Weight: 12 ml

Packaging: Plastic bottle with a cap. It has a pump.

thumbnail_IMG_20170123_233133_021.jpg

According to the Clinique website, All about Lips,

Delivers both immediate and long-term results to minimize evidence of fine lines, wrinkles and sun damage, giving the lip area a smoother, firmer look and feel. De-flakes lips, helping lip colour glide on, resist feathering.

You can apply it before your lipstick as many times a day you want.

How do I use it?

I use it before my lipstick, but I do wait for it to dry a bit/ get absorbed (ten secs). I then put on my lipstick.

Does this lip lotion affect the way my lipstick looks?

Yes. It makes a matte lipstick look a bit more dewy, shiny.

How does it feel with a lippie on top?

Max Factor Pink Brandy.jpg

The lipstick kind of glides on the lip and your lips feel moisturised and soft. I do feel a bit scared when I apply because it seems to make my lipstick a bit slippery, but it does not make your lipstick bleed. I also applied lipstick for a bit longer when the lotion was on my lips. This is because it feels like your lippie glides on and as your skin feels a bit oilier, you do not really ‘feel’ how much you are applying. You see, the sensation is different. Also, when you wear this under your lipstick, your lips feel fuller. It creates a smooth surface.I was wearing a Max Factor 825 in Pink Brandy.

Below you see two pictures. One with the lotion and one without

Without All about lips under my lippie

without-all-about-lips

With all about lips

with

How much product do you need?

One pump is enough.

All about lips.jpg

See a difference?

I do see the lotion on the sides of my lips, but that goes away with time.OK, now you can say, Well Jo, you didn’t really apply it well, but do keep in mind, this product is in a pump and you put it on your finger and then on your lips. Maybe I could use a brush in stead? I do think if it had a doe foot applicator though it would look less messy.

But

I will  continue to apply this throughout the day and before I go to bed. I am still not convinced my lipstick looks better with the lotion underneath.

Will you repurchase?

Yes, but more as a moisturising/ balm type of product and not as a lipstick base type of product.

Do you recommend it?

Yup. It does leave your lips softer and smoother. The feeling lasts longer than when wearing a lip balm.

I did a big skincare haul with different types of creams and lotions. If you are interested in face masks, hand creams and lip balms/ creams, do check my video out.

Huge Beauty Haul: 1st impressions (Chanel, Shiseido, TooFaced, Clinique and more)

haul

Hi everyone!!

I have been gathering beauty products for the past few months and I though I’d write a post to accompany my video (yup I made a video which will be linked below if you wanna watch me swatching, squinting and rambling about these products aka giving you more details about these products). So, I bought some brushes, a bronzer, TooFaced travel size minis, a concealer, a powder and a few more things. So let’s peak into my shopping bag.

Repurchases

I repurchased my Estee Lauder Double wear concealer because I like using it. I prefer it for covering redness and not so much for under the eye. I had initially bought it for under the eye but it seems that it creases a bit on me. I do like the coverage though. Instead of using it for under my eye, I use it to cover up red spots. Under my eye I use the Maybelline erase age or something like that (you know the one….).

1dior

2 Brushes

I got a Shiseido foundation brush and a Clinique powder brush. I like both of them. The Shiseido Brush is very dense and reminds me of the Artis brushes I see everywhere. I used it yesterday. I like it!! It applies the Shiseido foundation I also got very evenly. The Clinique brush is a fluffy brush which is great for powder.

Chanel Stylo

I got the Chanel Stylo 197. The makeup artist described it as a green/ silver. I did a test trial on my vlog and it lasted well. I am thinking of getting other shades as well. Apparently they are limited edition and come in 3 shades. Chanel releases new colours every season.

dsc_0070

TooFaced minis

I got a bunch of highlighters and blushes from TooFaced. The one that has stood out is the Snow Bunny Highlighter. I also tried the Melted lipstick creams (shade peony). I am not impressed. It was quite messy. I got the blushes Love Hangover (coral pink) and Justify my love.

TooFaced snow bunny and Love Flush blush.jpg

I also got the Chocolate Soleil Bronzer in Medium/Deep which is a cool toned bronzer and I bought it because my  contour shade in my Cocoa Contour Palette hit pan. The makeup artist at Sephora I try contouring with this and I like it. Of course I go in light handed cause, well, if I use too much it looks scary. I like this product!

Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzer

Clarins

Everyone has been raving about the Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfecter. This feels like a balm. It looks pretty on the lips, but it is not long lasting. You definitely need to reapply during the day.

Perfume

I got the Clinique Aromatics in White. Noone really talks about this perfume. I love it. I think it is as exquisite as Mademoiselle Coco (Chanel). It smells like a floral powder but with a sophisticated vibe. I wore it to a dinner party the other night and all my girlfriends asked me what I was wearing. Seriously, check it out when you can.

Tangle Teezer Review (Lulu Guinness Design)

dsc_0061

Hi everyone!

Today’s post is going to be a product review of the Tangle Teezer which is a brush that detangles your hair. You can also use it to style your hair.  I was sent this product and was so excited to try the brush because I had heard so many things about it on YouTube and blogs. So, I got to choose what I wanted to try and I chose the LuLu Guiness Design and my Tagle Teezer is the Compact one.

Why did I choose the Lulu Guinness one?

Cause it had little lipsticks on it!! Yes. So as you can see in the pictures, there are pink and lilac and purple little lippies. What’s not to love ladies?

Why did I choose the compact?

Because it was small and would fit in my bag. The measurements are actually

Height: approx 4.5 cm.

Width:approx. 6 cm.

Length: approx.8 cm.

dsc_0064

What does it claim to do?

According to the Tangle Teezer  website,

It is a handbag friendly brush

It detangles the hair leaving it smooth and shiny.

What do you think Jo (aka me)?

I like this brush. It detangles my hair and does not hurt. It does not get stuck in my hair when I wake up looking like a lioness!! The finish is nice soft straight hair- not frizzy. Is it really handbag-friendly? Well, that depends on the size of your bag. If it is a medium/ bigger bag, then yes. If it is a clutch, then no. Does it leave your hair shiny? I don’t think it’s the brush that makes the hair shiny. I think that when your hair is nice and straight it will shine anyway, so yes and no. It is also very durable. Sure, it is not the cheapest brush you can get your hands on (in Greece Sephora sells it for 18 euro), but how often do you buy brushes anyway? Plus this brush is made of good materials. Nothing flimsy about it!

Do you recommend it?

Yes. Especially if your hair gets tangled a lot. There are also other types of brushes you may want to check out. They come in pretty designs and anyway ladies,

we all want to have good hair days!!

Thanks for stopping by!! Don’t forget to follow my blog and let me know in the comments below how you feel about the Tangle Teezer? Have you bought one?

My Going Out Essentials: The Holidays Edition

Hi everyone!!

So, you have your outfit ready, but you still want to glam up your holiday/ party attire. This post/ video shows you a few of the things that I consider ‘going out essentials’ for the holidays.

I talk about beauty/ makeup

I think having a good base/ foundation is important. Long wear foundation like the Estee Lauder Double wear will do the trick. A red lip is also a must as well as a good mascara. Perfume and red nail varnish recommendations are also necessary.

Jewelry

I love statement earrings and I show you a few of my favourites in the video. If it sparkles, you are good to go gal.

The Clutch bag

If your outfit is not too busy, you can choose a ‘busy’ bag. I have two ‘going out’ clutch bags.

If you are interested in checking out my suggestions, check out my video. Do subscribe if you enjoy the video 🙂
