Little Miss Sunshine Review

Hi lovelies,

Fancy a night out with your friends, your family, or even a date night? I have you covered! Yesterday evening we went to the theater (Dawnie and I. Dawnie is my work wifey) . It was fantastic and I am going to tell you all about it.

Where? What?

I went to the York Grand Opera House and I saw Little Miss Sunshine. According to the press release,

Based on the Academy Award-winning film by Michael Arndt, Little Miss Sunshine is the off-beat musical comedy created by the Tony Award-winning team of James Lapine (who collaborated with Stephen Sondheim on Into the Woods and Sunday in the Park with George) and William Finn (25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Falsettos).

Tell us more…

Well, I do not want to give too much away, but there it is about a family with variousΒ  ‘characters’ who go on an 800 mile road trip in order to take part in the Little Miss Sunshine pageant. You get to witness loads of comical moments as well as sad ones. Lots of conversations everyone can relate to.

I laughed

and cried

It’s a musical… Is it too sing-y?

Nope. Great balance. The songs are well placed throughout the musical and they are very catchy. Fun. You do end up dancing a bit in your seat. My favourite scene is the fight… and it is music to my ears. Literally. So smart. So cool.

What else?

Well, they use the stage well. The stage is big. It looks like a rich production. The bus scenes are really well thought out. The lighting is great. The sound is amazing. Not too high, not too low. Just right.

More Details

The musical is about two hours long with a break in the middle. Time flies coz you are having so much fun. The wine Dawnie and I had was a really nice addition to the evening.

Book a Ticket. What is on offer?

The show is on until Saturday 7th of June. What are you waiting for?

The Grand Opera House York are offering 14-26 year olds tickets for 10 pounds plus a free drink. All you need to do is mention SUNSHINE10 when booking (online or at the box office)..

My fave lippies

Hi lovelies,

I thought I’d give my favourite lippie a shout out today. I am a lipstick hoarder. I love lippies. The brighter, the better, especially if it is summer. The product I am going to talk about is the

Max Factor Colour Elixir Lipstick

Let’s start with what others say……….

This lipstick according to amazon,

  • Actively moisturises for smoother, full lips (vs bare lips)

  • Rich colour lipstick infused with moisture

  • Works overtime for smoother-looking lips in 7 days

  • A blend of 60 percent emollients, conditioners and antioxidants including vitamin E

  • Colour Elixir Lipstick gives you smooth, soft lips with gorgeous colour.

According to the Max Factor UK website,

Achieve smoother, fuller-looking lips with Colour Elixir Lipstick. The conditioning formula glides on effortlessly for soft, moisturised lips while delivering vibrant lip colour in an instant. – 16 intense shades – Super-conditioning ingredients: vitamin E, shea, avocado and aloe butters – Smoother, fuller-looking lips

How to Apply: Step 1: For extra fullness, etch around the lip line and cupid’s bow with Colour Elixir Lip Liner before applying lipstick.

Step 2: Veil lips in your shade of Colour Elixir Lipstick.

Step 3: Blot with a tissue then reapply to intensify your shade.

So let’s see what I think about it.

Does it make the lips softer? Smoother? Juicier (dare I say).

Yup. Yup and yup. So nice and creamy. Light weight. Like a balm but not as balmy if that makes sense. It conditions your lips.

Is it easy to apply?

Yes. If it gets a bit smudged, you do not have to take hours to take it off (this applies to darker shades.

Vibrant lip colour?

Cannot talk about all the shades, but the ones I have (bewitchening coral and pink brandy) are bright and very pigmented. Not patchy.

Does it make lips look fuller?

Dunno….. They do look nicer and healthier.

Have you blotted your lips with tissue paper?

Nope. On the list though!

Now my own rambles

I would compare this to my other fave lippie… Clinique Pop.

I would not call it a long lasting lippie.

Not matte, but not glossy either. Somewhere in the middle.

Price is affordable especially when you can get the 3 for 2 offer.

One Brand Focus: E. l. f

Hi lovelies,

I have another one brand focus post/ video for you. This time I am focusing on the brand E.l.f. I have gathered a few products from them and can tell you what has worked for me and what hasn’t. On the whole, I like E.l.f because most of the products have worked for me, it is affordable and they are cruelty free which is another bonus!

In this blog post, I briefly give you a run down (in my video, I share more details– shameless plug, I know, right?)

What have I used?

Brushes

Well, brushes. About 5. Brushes for da eyes, face, cheeks. My favourite brush is their blusher brush. When I first got it, I was a bit intimidated because, well, I got a lot of product all over my face. Now, I am careful and I like the brush. In my video, which is linked later on, I show you all my E.l.f brushes.
Eye shadows
I have loads of eye shadow sticks, but my fave is the no budge eye shadow stick from E.l.f. I have all the shades. My faves are rose gold and Moca. They are very creamy, easy to use, and long lasting.
Lip oils
I like the E.l.f lip oils, but they are not my faves. They are quite affordable, and make your lips look juicy. They are not very pigmented though and they do get a bit sticky.
Powders
I have the under eye high definition powder which is supposed to be used under your eyes (really??) to set the foundation/ concealer in that area. It’s a powder. It does not really sink into my fine lines, but then again, I do not really have any. It is fine and the beauty community thinks it’s really nice!
Concealer
The winner for me though is the E.l.f camo concealer. It is affordable, long lasting, and has coverage. I bought one that would help with brightening. Rally like it!!
Duds?
Yes, there are a few. I bought one of their star dust glitter eyeliners (shown in video) and I could not use it for two reasons. Firstly, I am not good at applying eyeliner and the applicator is a bit flimsy. That does not help eyeliner dummies like me. Also, it was not very pigmented. It was a bit…. runny??
Will I chuck it? Nope. I will use it as an eye shadow topper. You know, the middle bit of your eyelid area (where you may add some shimmer from time to time).

What E.l.f products have you tried and what did you think? Do let me know in the comments below. Do check out my video and subscribe to my channel if you like what you see (trying to grow and it is so hard!!!).

Thanks for stopping by…
xx
p.s. this is my previous one brand focus video/ post. Here I focus on Clinique.

H&M clothes & accessories haul

Hi lovelies,

I did a bit of shopping from H& M, so I thought I’d show you what I got along with my Get Ready with me video.

But first, what did I get?

Jewelry

I got this lovely chunky pearl earring. I think they look really nice paired with a nice spring knit or blouse. They can transform your outfit into something really glam.

Layered (-ing) necklaces

So, shell fish-y hangy stuff are all over the place. I got this necklace that is da embodiment of summer. It will look great with a V neck. You can wear it on it’s own or with other pieces.

I also got a necklace with a small circle hanging on it. I think that looks really chic.

Clothes

A wide leg pair of smart trousers. I have bought more classic looking trousers from H&M before and they are great value for money. Have washed my winter pair many times and they are still a great fit. This pair is more lightweight. The only thing I do not love about them is that they are quite high waisted.

Snake Print shirt

I ❀ animal print. Most of the things I have are leopard print. That is why I bought my first snake print shirt. Ideal for going out. What do you think?

Light (knit) blouses

At 8.99 I got three. A white, a pink and a black blouse. I made the mistake of buying the pink one in XLarge and it is quite big. I bought the others in Large. They are nice and soft, a bit baggy, the sleeves do not drown you and I 😍 them. Great basics for Spring 🌹🌷🌹

I also got this pretty hair tie which is very on trend at the moment. I really like this and it does make my hair look a bit more put together.

Now time for the Tube…

YouTube

My YouTube video is me showing you my work outfit. I wear the pink blouse, another H&M wide leg trouser, the necklace and makeup… On my face. And since I am talking about makeup, my look is a very easy everyday makeup look.

Thanks for stopping by. Don’t forget to follow my bog.

Till next time….

Curvy gal fashion

Hi lovelies!!

It has been a while since I sat and wrote a blog post.

To be honest, I am not actually sitting, I am tucked in bed, drinking coffee and thinking about clothes. Yeap.

That is why I am writing my blog post today. Let’s talk about fashion. Buying clothes.

My size

I am a UK 16, but that fluctuates, depending on the store and the clothing item. For trousers, I usually buy 16-18 (H&M or M&S), for tops I can wear 14-16. I usually buy clothes that are large or extra large.

YouTube

I have filmed a few videos about clothes and styling and I will share them here coz of course I am going to shame. Essly plug my channel.

So my glam Get Ready with me featuring zara leopard print and pearls

A Prinark haul try on

A Work Outfit Get ready with me (H&M/Zara)

Tomorrow I will be filming a spring get ready with me, so stay tuned.

I hope you check out my videos xx
